windream GmbH at the CeBIT 2010: Hall 3, stand J 20

Enhanced functions and solutions for the windream Enterprise Content Management System

February 4, 2010 | Bochum. – windream GmbH, supplier and manufacturer of the windream ECM-system, will attend this year's CeBIT with a whole variety of products. The company will introduce new functions and solutions for the windream version 5.0, a web application for the Business Process Management System windream BPM and a new version of the windream integration into Microsoft's Office Sharepoint Server MOSS. Together with the windream partner Konica Minolta, windream GmbH will also present highly integrated solutions which connect Konica Minolta's multifunction devices to the windream ECM-system. The exhibition at the windream stand is completed by solutions which have been developed by windream partners. Further on, windream GmbH will also attend the "Showcase Digital Mail Processing" of the VOI council with two additional workstations.

Quick document viewing with the "windream Record Viewer"

With the brandnew "windream Record Viewer" application developed for the forthcoming windream 5.0 version, files archived in the windream ECM-system can be selected and converted to an HTML-view via a context menu command of the Windows Explorer. After having selected the desired documents, the new software will present the document contents in an HTML-site within a common web browser. This way, even complex document volumes – e.g. project-related information or the contents of records – can be opened, read, and conveniently be transported  on different media as a single HTML-file. The viewer converts the contents of records from the selected original documents automatically and integrates it into the HTML-view. This process allows users to work with the record viewer without having to provide the original documents at the same time. E.g., facsimiles of scanned documents are integrated into the HTML-view as images; also Powerpoint-slides, Word- or Excel-files and any other file type as well as the associated metadata can be generated in HTML-format directly with the windream  Record Viewer.

The windream Record Viewer is an ideal tool e.g. for windream users who need quick and uncomplicated access to project data, to the contents of electronic records or to any other file without having to access the respective original files of a windream ECM-system directly. A decisive argument in this context is that the document contents including the associated file attributes is not provided as an unstructured collection of separate original files, but the contents is collected and provided in one single HTML-file only.

User-related paper bin

windream 5.0 provides an enhanced paper bin function. While, until now, only administrators could recover or finally destroy windream documents deleted by users, documents can now also be moved to personal paper bins by windream users from their client application directly. From there, deleted documents can either be restored or destroyed permanently by the users.

Virtual folders

The "Virtual Folders" application allows users to present the document volume of a windream system individually – especially in cases in which e.g. different departments of a company need a specific sight on the folders currently available in windream. This may e.g. be an alphabetical list of customer names with the associated documents, a sorting according to item numbers or even specificly adjusted sights of customer and personal records. Generally, the virtual folders allow users different sights on the same document volume in windream. Individual configuration options allow users to sort records virtually and according to personal requirements without having to change the actually existing structure of folders in windream. The latest version of the virtual folder view now also provides a module for quick document preview and for viewing the indices associated with the documents.

The windream Function Bundle

The release of the windream 5.0 version will be accompanied by a so called "windream Function Bundle". It represents a collection of smaller applications or gadgets which have been developed by the windream staff for different purposes. With the applets of the function bundle, a whole variety of typical ECM-jobs can be simplified by automising e.g. repeating tasks, such as indexing, capturing or archiving.

windream BPM now with web connection

The Business Process Management software windream BPM now also offers a web application with which business processes can be started and administered via the internet. With windream BPM Web, users who already work with windream BPM can access and work with business processes independently of their actual workplace. Besides the web application, the windream CeBIT-team will also present the current version of the windream BPM business process management system.

New version of the MOSS-integration

The current windream integration into Microsoft's Office Sharepoint Server (MOSS) offers users a secure document storage according to legal regulations directly from a MOSS-environment. All documents which are created or captured via the MOSS-site can be saved securely in the windream system, edited, versioned and opened. In this context, a new administration application has been integrated into the MOSS-solution, which is named the "windream Storage Manager". Via this storage manager, system administrators can control and configure the archiving processes. This way, it is e.g. possible to determine the storage locations for MOSS-documents individually.

Together with Konica Minolta

windream GmbH will attend the CeBIT this year together with their partner
Konica Minolta again. The exhibition of the two partners at the windream partner stand in hall 3 will introduce the interaction between Konica Minolta's multifunction devices and the ECM-system windream. In this context, it is e.g. possible to digitise paper documents efficiently with a Konica Minolta system, but also to index and save them in the windream ECM-system automatically and in one workstep only.

This year, the windream partner stand will be built on about 260 square meters. Interested visitors will find the stand in hall 3, stand number J 20.

windream in the "Showcase Digital Mail Processing"

Besides the exhibition at the windream partner stand, windream GmbH will also occupy two further workplaces in the "Showcase Digital Mail Processing" of the German "Organisations- und Informationssysteme e.V." council. In the context of the presentations of the VOI-membership, windream GmbH will introduce the current version of the windream ECM-system. At another workplace, the windream CeBIT team will show how companies can efficiently manage incoming invoices with Konica Minolta devices and windream. The complete process – beginning  with the reception of the documents and ending with a final archival – is completely automised. First, the process starts with the digitising and scanning of incoming paper receipts in stacks. This process is followed by an automatic classification and indexing of the documents and by an automised transfer process to a defined workflow. After the documents have been processed by the responsible departments of a company, the receipts will finally be archived in the windream system according to legal regulations. The complete process will be demonstrated live in the "Showcase Digital Mail Processing". The stand is situated in hall 3. The stand number is A 20.
