New solution connects Konica Minolta multi-function systems with windream ECM system
August 30, 2011 | Bochum. – Under the name "windream bizhub connect'", windream GmbH will present the newest release of their software solution for Konica Minolta multi-function devices on this year’s DMS EXPO in Stuttgart. The solution seamlessly connects the Enterprise Content Management system windream and the Konica Minolta bizhub systems. With this software solution, users already working with bizhub devices or planning to invest in such a system are offered an exceedingly efficient tool which e.g. allows them to compliantly archive scanned documents in the windream ECM system – directly and without any inconveniences.
Leading technology and multiple functions
windream bizhub connect can handle a multitude of classical jobs connected to the digitalization and systematical archiving of various files and formats. The system is ideal for the use in small offices and medium-sized companies with branch offices in various locations. bizhub connect solves archiving problems, entirely without paper, by quickly and flexibly connecting any desired amount of Konica Minolta bizhub systems with the compliant windream archive.
Since the Konica Minolta bizhub devices provide an extremely flexible interface, they can be connected to other applications and even be controlled by these without much effort in implementation. In this context, the windream ECM system is practically ideal for being integrated into the bizhub world as a software component.
The interaction between hardware and software allows the user to enter document-specific information, e.g. file attributes or indices such as invoice numbers and distributor IDs, directly on the display of the Konica Minolta bizhub device. windream bizhub connect immediately archives the captured documents in the previously configured directories of the windream ECM system. In turn, bizhub connect can ad hoc return messages on specific activities to the user, e.g. on the current process status or on faulty entries.
Furthermore, windream bizhub connect allows you to flexibly edit any desired information or document. This e.g. includes the automated monitoring of in-box directories.
Individual configuration and document processing
Of course, the system can be configured quickly and conveniently in accordance with the individual requirements of the user. In this context, the windream-specific rights concept is of particular importance, since it grants only authorized users access to the bizhub devices and storage locations of captured documents in windream. The rights management also allows the consideration of windream-specific document types and their specific access rights. Furthermore, bizhub connect offers users an extensive input assistance including the individual use of choice lists and a search function for a quick identification of the correct input criteria.
windream bizhub connect is even able to check information entered on specific documents for classification, even before the scanning process and thus to immediately send a message to the user via the bizhub display if potential error sources are detected.
Intuitive Handling
The whole flexibility of a windream bizhub connect system shows when processing digitalized documents. Out-going functions such as the sending of e-mails or messages to bizhub systems, the handling of files, and the addressing of further sources of information are complemented by the flexible use of functions for changing documents. This includes the extraction of text information, changes of format (e.g. to searchable PDF or PDF/A), the separation of documents on the basis of blank pages or barcodes, or the batching of documents. If e.g. an already existing processing routine shall be extended by a further function, this can be achieved quickly and conveniently via the modern plug-in technology of the bizhub connect system.

A complete windream bizhub connect system, based on the newest release of the windream bizhub connect software, will be presented to the trade fair audience at the windream partner stand at this year’s DMS EXPO from September 20th to 22nd in Stuttgart.
